Meet Claudia and John. We have been working long distance with them as they plan their wedding in Bristol, Rhode Island next month.
Talk about being in the right place at the right time! John and Claudia met on the streets of New Orleans during Mardi Gras. John is from NOLA and marches in a couple of Mardi Gras parades. Claudia was in town with a colleague playing hooky from work (she was located in Michigan at the time) and Mardi Gras just happened to be her birthday that year! “John’s group broke off from their parade route and were going down another main street as my colleague and I were returning to the parade route.” Claudia says, “He called me over to dance with him in the street (they have their own band).” She said she kissed him on the cheek, he gave her a paper flower as is his group’s custom, and the rest in history!
Their first date was back in Rhode Island around Easter that year. John drove up from NYC where he was at a conference. They went to eat on Federal Hill and checked out the gorgeous views of Providence from Prospect Park.
They chose to get married in Rhode Island since Claudia grew up here and still considers it home even though she technically doesn’t live here.
Planning a wedding can be overwhelming even when you live in the state you are getting married. The couple said it was a lot of coordination and time on the internet especially since John and her do not live in the same state, neither of which is RI. “Thank God for Skype!” they said.
John and Claudia chose Prospect Park for their engagement session location because it was their first date AND it’s where John proposed! For the second half of their session, we checked out the East Bay bike path to get some water views as well as a city backdrop. John said that they had gone there on a date as well.
Check out a few favorites from their session and be on the look out for their wedding blog post too!
