Kristin Greene – owner of Salon KG asked us to be one of the two photographers to help document an event she was hosting: The 2nd Annual Pawtuxet Village Wedding Stroll. We took some time to ask her how she came up with this event and what is takes to plan something like this. Here is what she had to say:
Q: How did you come up with the Pawtuxet Village Wedding Stroll?
A: I worked in East Greenwich when they would do the Wedding Walk. I participated one year so I thought it would be nice to bring something like that to Pawtuxet Village as we keep growing with wedding professionals.
Q: How long has Salon KG been in Pawtuxet Village?
A: Salon KG will be turning 2 on May 2nd!!! We are actually celebrating with a DJ and a surprise for our clients that day. This was our 2nd Wedding Stroll in the village.
Q: What is your background in the wedding industry and of Salon KG?
A: I have been a professional makeup artist for over 20 years, working for such companies like MAC, Sephora and Chanel to name a few. In 2002, I went on my own and started my own company. It quickly grew over the years that I decided to go back to school and get my Cosmetology License and open a salon with my husband. The team has grown to 9 stylists and counting! We travel on location and also offer salon weddings as well.
Q: How many local wedding professionals helped out during the Wedding Stroll?
A: We had great participation from the village: Fellini’s, Basta, O’Rourkes, Bobby Pins, Sweet Indulgence, Golden Gate Studios, Art and Soul, Twice Told Tales, The Veiled Crow, Village Antiques, Village Dry Cleaner, Innisfree and Cork and Brew.
Outside of the village, we had 21 wedding professionals help out and donate their services towards the grand prize (worth over $3,500). The winner was Ashley Doiran who is planning her wedding for October 2015.
Q: What did you learn from planning this event?
A: That I need more help next time. LOL! This year was amazing, a huge success but with it came a lot of work. Next year, will be a little different and the wedding professionals will have to register and pay a small fee to off set our costs. We met some incredible brides and we love being able to include our wedding professionals. The “wedding party” was great and interacted with everyone in the village.
RI Local and the Cranston Herald covered the event. It was so cool to see our event in print a few days later! Rhode Island Monthly Engaged also shared some photos from the event on their social media pages.
