Whenever our couples inquire about a Photo Booth we ALWAYS refer them to our friend Geoff Gordon, owner of Photobooth Planet. We hired Geoff for our wedding {see our photos below} because we loved the look of the Photo Booth and the picture quality was perfect. Plus Geoff is fun to work with!

Below is an interview we had with Geoff who shared a bit about his business and what makes Photo Booth Planet different from the rest:

Q: When did Photobooth Planet start?
A: September 2008

Q: What types of products do you offer?
A: We offer vintage style photo booths, the VW photo bus and a mobile flip book studio.

Q: What comes with a Photo Booth? 
A: Here’s a little overview of our service: our photo booths are elegant, vintage-style, hard-sided booths with modern digital capabilities. Two identical strips of three, high-quality, glossy photos (black and white or color, and customizable to include text) are printed out for you and your guests (they take one as a favor and you keep the other, if you like, for a “photo guest book” which is assembled on-site by our attendant).

Nicole: What a great idea! The couple could even consider this service as a wedding favor for their guests!

Geoff: EXACTLY! Our standard package includes:

  • Four hours (we have a four hour minimum) of unlimited duplicate photo-strips
  • A trained attendant for the duration of the event
  • Creation of a Photo Guest Book (including all materials)
  • A thumb-drive with all of the images that were taken by your guests
  • Complementary customization of photo-strips to include text or graphics
  • Custom curtain options and stick prop packages
  • Complete back-up system onsite with every photo booth
  • Set-up/break-down and delivery

Q: What is the cost for your photo booths?
A: For a 4 hour event, the price would be $1395 ($1295 if it’s on a Friday or Sunday). That price includes everything (excluding tax).   Because tastes vary so much, you may want to provide your own scrapbook, but we are happy to provide one for you at no additional charge if you prefer.  Additional hours are $150 each.

Q: Any advice you can offer couples who are interested in having a Photo Booth at their event?
A: A word to the wise as you consider your options: make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Not all photo booths are created equal. Many photo booth companies simply assemble a make-shift booth at your event with pipes, curtains, and a printer out on the table. If aesthetics are important to you, ask to see a picture of the booth that will be at your event.  Our photo booths are the real deal – elegant and authentic.  Also make sure to ask for a sample of the photo strips they provide.  Our photo booths produce striking, full-color images that are both flattering and unparalleled in clarity.  Not only is this important for the benefit of your guests, but it greatly enhances the quality of the photo guest book we create for you.

Q: Besides weddings, what types of events do you service?
A: Any type of event is perfect for us! In addition to weddings, we have been at holiday parties, birthday parties, anniversary parties, new years eve parties etc.

Q: What trends do you see for 2015 in regards to photo booths?
A: Simplicity.  I’m finding that most of my clients are not interested in social media components, custom curtains, or mountains of props.

They are seeking the elegance of a vintage-style photo booth with a classic, burgundy curtain.  For props, if they want them at all, we supply a modest selection of stick props – fake mustaches and lips on sticks.  Our clients value their guests for who they are and want images in their guest book to reflect what they actually looked like at their weddings.

Q: What is the craziest thing to ever happen in your photo booths?
A: While there have been a few R-rated moments, they are rare these days now that people have wised up to fact that the client receives a flash-drive with all the digital images.  Other than that, let me think… we have had 10 people pile in for a picture.

Q: Can you tell us more about Chloe the Photo Bus?
A: Chloe is a fully restored, sea-foam green, 1967 VW Bus that we have transformed into a rolling photo booth.  We found her in Laguna Beach, CA.  She is quite the show stopper! At a tented wedding we roll up, open the doors, and invite people to sit inside and take all the photos they want.

Q: What makes Photobooth Planet different from your competitors?
A: Well I could generate quite a list of what sets us apart, but the main thing is that we are one if the few companies that offer a vintage-style, hard-sided photo booth.  Our booths are the preferred option by wedding vendors and photographers for whom aesthetics are essential.  Most of our competitors offer some variation on the “photo-tent” – a booth assembled on site with pipes and curtains.  The other thing that I can say with confidence that our booths produce the highest quality images in the industry.  Another thing that sets us apart is the providing high-quality photo booths is all we do.  We are not doing lighting, music, or traditional photography – we keep it simple and focus on providing the most awesome photo booth experience for your guests and creating a photo guest book that our clients will treasure for the rest of their lives.
