Question: Aren’t all florists the same? Answer: NO, not all wedding florists are the same! I hired Polly to provide florals for my bridal shower giving her a few requirements: small arrangements for luncheon, include florals complimentary to blue and create “something different.” What she provided was simple and exactly what I wanted! Guests who attend my bridal shower actually asked if they could take the arrangements home with them!
I also had the opportunity to refer Polly and Robin Hollow Farm to one of my June brides this year. The couple wanted something simple and loved the fact that Polly and Mike grew their own flowers. Below are some images from their wedding followed by an interview we had with Polly this morning.
Here’s what Polly, owner of Robin Hollow Farm had to share with us:
Q: How did Robin Hollow Farm start?
A: Robin Hollow Farm grew from Mike and Polly Hutchinson’s nearly twenty years of farming experience and Polly’s studies in design. Since 2007, they have been growing interesting and beautiful flowers exclusively and now grow over 100 types while designing formals all over New England.
Q: What types of events do you service?
A: Any event is welcome – we do small house parries to 300 person weddings.
Q: Who is your ideal client?
A: Someone who LOVES flowers! We love clients who want something fresh and different, whether for a clean modern look or wild and rustic. We love botanical diversity, herbs and cool textures, anything out of the ordinary!
Q: What 2014/2015 trends can we expect to see?
A: Gold is the big accent color for 2015, with some of the other warm metals as well. I am also seeing more movement and flow, more waterfall bouquets and clean palettes such as white and green.
Q: How do you different from your competitors?
A: Most florists don’t grow their own flowers of course! We are part of national organizations such as the Slow Flower and American Grown movement and work hard to keep up with the latest design and horticultural trends. Also, we love hearing our client’s stories and honoring their family traditions. Oh, and we are completely stoked about marriage equality!
