PORTRAIT | Outdoor Winter Maternity Photos at Roger Williams Park

I have know Kevin & Kayla {K2ed} since 2014 when they reserved us to photograph their wedding in May of 2016. We have gone with Boston for their engagement photos, Harbor Lights for their wedding, they have taken mini fall holiday photos with us and recently we just photographed their maternity session. “This hasn’t been our first time working with Nicole and it definitely won’t be our last either.  Kevin and I both enjoy working with Nicole because her photos (and the experience) are simply amazing!  From the candid to the posed, she makes sure that every shot is perfect!” {Thanks, Kayla!}

In general, we always suggest that expecting Mom’s reserve their maternity session around the 32-25 week mark. Usually, Mom is still feeling good but also has a good bump to show off 🙂

K2ed wanted to do some photos outdoors as well as in our studio. We suggested Roger Williams Park for the outdoor location. It’s pretty and it’s just up the road. For clothing, we suggested something warm but colorful to add a “pop” of color.

To personalize their session, they brought along some special items that meant a lot of them. “Baby shoes that we used for our pregnancy announcement (since we are both runners), a Patriots onesie ( we are both sports fans), 2 different Harry Potter onesies (I am a big Harry Potter fan) and two mugs that said Best Mom and Best Dad ever.  The item that meant the most to us was a Memory Bear that we had made out of the dress Kevin’s Mother wore to our wedding.  Unfortunately his Mom passed on April 29th but happily we became pregnant shortly after her passing.  We believe she is our guardian angel and we wanted her to be a special part of our pregnancy.”

Since we did the session as Christmas was approaching, Kayla wanted to try to wrap her belly using Christmas string lights. So cool! Love couples who are open to our ideas but also have their own! I am in LOVE with these photos. It’s a great feeling when the client and the photographer are so in sync.

When asked if they could give any advice to expecting parents who are on the fence about having professional photos taken, the Brunelle’s suggest going with a “photographer you are comfortable with.” Kayla said, “I am very self-conscious on how I look right now and Nicole made me feel really comfortable in my skin and helped me enjoy our photo shoot.”

Baby B aka “The Little Guy” is expected to arrive at the end of January. We can’t wait to meet him!
