While we have photographed many events at the Providence Public Library, this was our first wedding we had photographed at the venue. Everything about the Providence wedding was fabulous and no detail was left unfinished.
The Bride, Sandra, grew up in North Providence. The Groom, Ray, was born in Venezuela but grew up in Brockton, Ma. Sandra is a teacher for 6th and 7th grade at St. Andrews School and Ray is an IT Contractor for Xerox. The couple actually met at St. Andrews when Ray was a Chef and Sandra first started teaching there.
Ray said he asked Sandra out 10 times and she turned him down 10 times! So he “stopped noticing her and she noticed!” After a summer off as Ray calls it, he asked Sandra out again when school started and she actually said yes! The day they were supposed to go out, Ray had to go to the hospital due to a collapsed lung. Sandra surprised him and visited at the hospital the very next day. They made a date to do dinner after he was released from the hospital. The day he got out, Ray said he “felt like crap, but wasn’t going to miss their first date.” They met at the original location of Cactus Grille (down by the Hot Club in Providence) and went to Elizabeth’s for dessert (the white chocolate cheesecake was a-mazing) they both still rave about it!
Ray proposed at Osetra Bay Restaurant on the Grand Caymen Island after Thanksgiving dinner.
We met Ray and Sandra at a Providence Bridal Show two years ago. When asked what made the couple want to hire us as their wedding photographers, Ray answered, “Pictures and food was my job. When I saw Nicole’s photos, they just spoke to me. It was an easy choice for us. Since reserving Nicole Gesmondi as our wedding photographers, everything just clicked into place. Super easy to get along with, she even offered to grab my wife flip flops on the evening of the wedding from upstairs! Nicole is professional, yet personal. She and her husband Paul just became part of the event.”
Ray and Sandra both agree that the Providence Public Library was the ideal place for their wedding since Sandra is a teacher and Ray’s family are avid readers. They did look at other venues not nothing compared to the library. Stone Blossom Florals was able to design stunning centerpieces off of the couple’s “book theme” while Ormonde Productions was able to provide uplighting to show off the venues architecture.
We asked Ray and Sandra what their favorite part of their wedding was. She said, it was the first time she saw Ray. He said, it was when he said “I Do.” (Awwww)
Their first dance song was “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
The couple is planning their honeymoon to The Ritz Carlton Reserve in Puerto Rico in November.
