ENGAGEMENT | Winter Engagement Session with Gene and Susan

I am sure we sound like a broken record when we say that best compliment we can receive is a referral from our past clients, friends and family. I met Gene a few years ago when we were both in the same BNI Chapter. Since then we have both parted from BNI but kept in touch. Over the years, he always recommended us to his friends who were engaged or in need of a photographer.

This year, he sent me a text after the holidays asking if we had any openings for August of this summer. I replied that we had a few dates open. A few more texts went back and forth about the process and what the next step was. I told him he could have his friend shoot me an email and we could go from there. He said, “Oh, it’s me!”

He and Susan came in for a studio visit and the rest is history! We are looking forward to photographing their wedding on Sunday, August 23rd at the Pierce House in Lincoln, MA this summer.

Wanting to use their engagement photos as part of their save the dates, we photographed their session at the end of February at Colt State Park in Bristol, RI. We love Colt State Park as there are many photo opportunities (even in the snow) without travel to multiple locations or venues.

See their interview and photos below:

Q: How did you two meet?
A: We met on Match.com

Q: Where was your first date?
A: At Peet’s Coffee in Newton, MA and then Sweet Tomatoes for dinner afterwards. We recreated our first date on our two year anniversary.

Q: When did you get engaged?
A: Christmas Eve 2014.

Q: How did Gene propose?
A: He said that he had an early Christmas present for me hidden in the Christmas tree. My engagement ring was nestled on an ornament on the tree. Once I found the ring, he proposed.

Q: What made your engagement session unique?
A: It was nice bonding with Nicole and Paul. It also gave us a chance to show Nicole and Paul what kinds of photos we like.

Q: What did you learn while working with us during your session that will be helpful on the day of the wedding?
A: It is nice having two photographers with different angles and perspectives

Q: When selecting a wedding photographer, what was the most important aspect for you?
A: Quality of work and reliability.

Q: What is your favorite park of wedding planning so far?
A: Having planning fall into place nicely and being able to mentally envision the wedding day.

Q: What is your least favorite part of wedding planning?
A: The small details can become overwhelming.
