I first met Maeg when Paul and I were photographing her Mom's wedding at The Graduate in Providence, Rhode Island. It was a beautiful intimate wedding ceremony and reception, and we got along really well. It is the utmost compliment when our clients return to us or recommend us to their friends and family, so I was excited to hear from Maeg about scheduling her engagement session!

She told me she and Seth have known each other for awhile through mutual friends, but it wasn’t until they matched on a dating app that they took the next step. The algorithm must’ve been right, because it wasn’t long before Seth proposed in San Juan, Puerto Rico at sunset while they visited one of the old castles. Swoon!

Nowadays, Maeg and Seth live in Niantic, Connecticut and wanted to take their engagement photos at a spot near and dear to them on the boardwalk in Mystic. It was a super cute choice; it had easy parking and a GORGEOUS private-ish beach that we basically had to ourselves. There were SO MANY cool places for photos!

Seth and Maeg were really fun to work with. They came to the session with a few ideas of their own (like champagne on the beach) but were open to whatever we suggested as well. Of course, it helped that the weather was beautiful; we could not have asked for a better day!

Q & A with Seth and Maeg…

What was your favorite part of the engagement session?
Although we are awkward when it comes to taking photos, we were confident they would come out looking really nice and are something we can look back on for years to come!

Why was it important for you to have an engagement session?
We knew it would be nice to have professional photos with each other instead of our usual selfies from a night out.

Was there anything you learned about us and how we photograph that you didn't know ahead of time?
When Nicole says she’s “testing the lighting” she really means it! The lighting came out so nicely in all of the photos, even when the sun was behind us!
