FEATURED VENDOR: An Interview with Perception Jewelry

I first met Barbara owner of Perception Jewelry back in spring of 2011. We both attended the same networking event and we instantly hit it off. A little over a year ago, Barbara, who at the time was running her business out of her home studio {which was really cute}, mentioned she was looking into retail spaces. Luckily for the two of us, my neighbor was just moving out so she and our friend Andria from Infinite Events moved in a few months later. We have our own wedding building going on and it works out really well for everyone.

Earlier this month we asked Barbara if she wouldn’t mind sitting down with us to talk about her business.

Q: How did Perception Jewelry start?
A: Starting Perception Jewelry for me was a life changing event. I wanted to stay in an industry that I was passionate about while still having time to be with my family. After 15 years in the jewelry business, I opened Perception Jewelry in 2005. My main focus was designing and creating custom pieces. A few years later I was asked to design and create a bridal line. After my first bridal appointment I was hooked! Bridal jewelry and accessories have now become the main focus of my business.

Q: What do you offer?
A:  We offer jewelry, hair accessories, belts, purses, shawls as well as fun pieces for your honeymoon. I specialize in simple elegance whether your style is romantic, traditional or modern. Our hours are by appointment so that we can provide our clients that private atmosphere. Perfect to play dress up!

Q: How do you help your clients?
A:  I truly want my clients to look beautiful and be happy with their choices. My pricing is fair and I try very hard to work within a bride’s budget. Once a bride comes for their initial visit, I encourage them to talk about their vision by sharing photographs and even bringing in their dress. They are encouraged to try on as many pieces as they would like and we start to create their look. We are more than the finishing touch and no detail is too small.

Q: Who is your client?
A:  My client is anyone looking for jewelry and accessories for their special occasion. They are brides and their entire bridal party; men who are looking for that special gift; someone who wants me to do personal shopping; or host a jewelry party. We also have clients that just come shopping for something to brighten their day!

Q: Why should clients go to you vs another vendor?
A:  I like to think I set myself apart by offering the bride amazing customer service. Not only do I sell an elegant finished line, but I will customize a piece, do personal shopping, offer styling assistance and all of this is included in the cost of the piece. My reputation is built on referrals. If the bride is happy with their experience they will tell their friends and their friends will come by. There is an incredible level of expertise in the bridal business so I have to be on top of my game!
I love everything about weddings and to have a bride include me in her special day is such a wonderful feeling! My brides come in as clients and often leave as friends.

Client reviews on working with Barbara:

“I am so happy with my experience with Perception Jewelry! When it came time for planning the “big day” jewelry, I knew I wanted something that was personal and special. Barbara’s ideas and suggestions were great and she really captured the look I was going for. She was easy to keep in touch with and always there for a quick email or phone call. I would definitely recommend her services and I look forward to purchasing more pieces from her for both everyday and special events!”

” My wedding was approaching and I still had yet found the perfect set of Bling for my big day! I had heard great things about Perception Jewelry from another vendor so I decided to reach out. Immediately after meeting Barbara, I had the most comfortable feeling; I knew I was in good hands. There was never any pressure; her warmth was something I wish I had with every shopping experience. I made several trips from that point on until the week of my wedding. Barbara helped me pick out and personalize every piece: 11 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls and accessories for my rehearsal dinner and the wedding day.Every item was spectacular, perfect and exactly what I had imagined.”
