WEDDING | Newport Marriott with Manny and Anne

Saturday, October 5, 2013   |   Newport Marriott

After photographing Manny & Anne’s kickass engagement session we were basically counting down the days til their wedding as we so much fun working with them! Anne and I went to pre-school together so I was beyond thrilled that she selected us to photograph her wedding.

The bride got ready at her parents house while the groom got ready and their house just down the street. Their ceremony was at St. Peters by the Sea in Narragansett, RI and then we headed to Newport for their formal photos and reception.

Enjoy a little Q & A from the newlyweds:

Hometowns: South Kingstown, Rhode Island {bride}; Carcas, Venezuela; Augusta, Georgia; Weston, Florida {groom} – “he always has to be difficult!”
Occupations: Employee Benefits Consultation {bride}; Police Officer {groom}

Where they met: On a beach in Miami
First Date: Hooters in Miami {seriously}
Where they got engaged: Our Kitchen

What made your event unique: Miami is a big part of our story so we wanted guests to feel transported, but not in a tacky way. We had very literal elements {tropical florals, palms} and others that were more subtle.
What was your favorite ceremony and/or reception moment: My favorite ceremony moment was walking down the aisle and seeing Manny for the first time! At the reception, our first dance!
First Dance song: An original mix by our fantastic DJ – Tim McGraw’s “My Best Friend” and Elvis Crespo’s “Pegadito Suevecito”

One thing I learned from my wedding planning is… trust my instincts! You know yourself better than anyone so don’t give in to a tradition if it just isn’t “you”. I didn’t wear a veil because it was too fussy for me – when I told people, I immediately received the look of shock and disbelief that I would go against tradition but in the end, the same people said I made the right choice.
The Bride Wore: The dress of my dreams! By Casablanc – it was so romantic!
The Bridesmaid Wore: Bill Levkoff
The Groom and Groomsmen Wore: Jos. A. Banks tux
The Registry: Crate and Barrel; Bed, Bath and Beyond
Biggest Splurge: the honeymoon! if you can afford it, go all out! And tell anyone who will listen that you are on your honeymoon!
Any wedding planning advice for brides to be?: No matter how organized you think you are, hire a Day-Of Coordinator at the very least. There is no way you can be as through, efficient and prepared as the professionals.
