WEDDING | Rhode Island Indian Wedding with Colette and Chirag

I was first introduced to Colette and Chirag through their wedding planner, Geri from Leave It To GeriGeri was helping to couple plan their indian wedding at the Blackstone Valley Tourism Center in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Colette and Chirag currently live on the Virgin Islands where they first met and also where they own their own businesses. Originally from Elizabeth, PA, Colette began visiting the Virigin Islands in the summer and liked it so much she decided to move there. She is the owner of St. John Scoops which is a local homemade ice cream shop. Chirag was visiting and met Colette at Banana Deck restaurant where he tried to impress her by buying her one of his Ale’s that was just released that he brews. Chirag is a partner of St. John Brewers & The Tap Room and Brewtique. In case you are interested, the Pale Ale is now their mango ale. Sounds tasty!

Chirag and Colette chose to have their indian wedding celebration at Slater Mill and the Blackstone Valley Tourism Center because “it’s the birthplace of the industrial revolution and we both own our own businesses.” Fun fact, Chirag was born in the hospital up the street from the venue and his Father had a pharmacy a few blocks away which he had for 24 years!

When asked, they said their favorite part of their wedding was having their friends and family engaged in the ceremony. There, of course, were many aspects of their Hindu wedding ceremony including the Varaagman, Ganesh Pooja, Kanya Aagman, Jaimala, Kana Daan and Hastamilap and Mangalpheras. My favorite part of their ceremony was the Saptapadi, which represents the seven vows and promises the couple makes to each other. The ceremony ended with the Mangalsutra, Sindoor and Ring Exchange and the Kansaar Feeding.

Photos took place across the street at Slater Mill along with cocktail hour. What a beautiful spot for photos as you can see below.

We even were able to go inside Slater Mill for a few photos which was nice.

The reception consisted of toasts, a surprise dance from the Best Man and one of the Groomsmen, dinner by Kabob & Curry {a local indian restaurant}, desserts from Sin and Amy’s Apples and lots of dancing.

Congratulations Colette and Chirag! Thank you for having us document your weekend! You may find us visiting St. John very soon! 🙂
