WEDDING | Spring Wedding at the Pierce House

Check out this classic spring wedding we photographed at the John Pierce House in Lincoln, MA on Saturday, May 16th of this year. Alex and Lauren’s wedding kicked off our 2015 wedding season and we had fabulous spring weather. Not too hot, not too cool. I met Lauren at her parents house in North Kingstown, RI where she and her girls were having their hair and make up done by Ali Lomazzo Beauty. Paul met Alex and the guys at Element Hotel in Lexington, MA.

Like most of our couples this year, Alex and Lauren wanted us to coordinate their “First Look” {when the couple see each other for the first time before their ceremony}. We also photographed their immediate families and bridal party at this time as well.

The ceremony was performed by a close family friend, Reverend Victoria Burdick of Authentic Ceremony

Photos of just the Bride and Groom were taken immediately following the ceremony on the property. Within 15 minutes, they joined cocktail hour with their guests and we capture the tent details, table set up and candids of guests.

The Bride and her mom organized a few DIY projects {check out their escort card display}. Florals and boutineer were designed by Polly of Robin Hollow Farm.

The wedding was catered by East Coast Grill and the guest enjoyed music from DJ Patrick McIntyre. {Check out the dancing photos, looks like everyone had a good time}! Carrot cake and pie was baked by Montilios ice cream was served with the pies and the couples {his, hers and ours} favorite chocolate candies.

Q: What made your wedding unique?
A: Our venue required that we bring in everything for the wedding {e.g. food, drinks, tables, linens} so we were able to customize our wedding so that it was exactly what we wanted it to be and we were able to include a lot of personal touches.

Q: What was your favorite part of your ceremony and/or reception?
A: Seeing each other for the first time during our first look and having a few minutes together just the two of us.

First Dance Song: “Can’t You See” by the Marshall Tucker Band

Q: How far in advance did you book your photographer?
A: We booked our wedding photographer before we officially set our date! I think it was about 8 months in advance. We knew we wanted to hire Nicole to capture our wedding – it meant a lot to me that our families have known each other for a long time, not to mention she came highly recommended and her photos are amazing!

Q: What was your favorite part about working with us so far?
A: That you are so much more than photographers! We will be forever grateful for all of your advice, recommendations and guidance. I also liked that Nicole was frequently checking in throughout the planning process and we met/talked on the phone several times beforehand to make sure we had every detail worked out.

Q: What advice could you offer coupes looking to hire a photographer?
A: Find a photographer who you can trust to take good pictures regardless of what happens. It was supposed to rain the day o our wedding and needless to say we were nervous about the impact it would have on our outdoor wedding. I talked to Nicole the Thursday before the wedding about some last minute details and the possibility of rain. Immediately after I got off the phone with her I felt better and said to my Maid of Honor, “this is the reason I wanted to hire Nicole, because she is such a skilled photographer that I trust she will take good picture no matter what happens.”

One thing you learned from planning your wedding….
A: Is how valuable personal recommendations are when hiring your wedding vendors. We either knew our vendors personally, or they were recommended to us by a friend, family member or by our photographer. There were no surprises or last minute cancellations and we trusted everyone who was a part of our wedding to do an amazing job – and they absolutely did!

The Bride wore:
A: Dress, Veil, Belt and Necklace all purchased at Alexandra’s Bridal Boutique. Hair pieces were purchased at Bridal Finery by Nancy Spirito and the shoes were a Touch of Nina.

The Bridesmaids wore:
A: Bill Levkoff at Alexandra’s Bridal Boutique. Earrings were purchased by Maci Design on Etsy.

The Groom and Groomsmen wore:
A: Calvin Klein rented through Men’s Warehouse

The Honeymoon:
A: Hawaii – Maui and Kauai

The Registry:
A: Macy’s, Crate & Barrel and Amazon

Any additional wedding planning advice for engaged couples?
A: Keep track of all the little things you buy and make sure to include them in your budget – they add up quickly! If you disagree with your significant other on something, consider how important it might be to the other person. In the end, what matters the most is to have a wedding that includes things that are special for each of you {like a Metallica into into the reception.}   🙂
